January 6, 2004 (Toronto) - Following the success of last summer's first annual Antonin Kubalek International Piano Program in the Czech Republic, the organizers announced the continuation and preparations for the second annual piano program. Held in Zlate Hory (Gold Mountains), this program offers a 'golden' opportunity for selected young pianists across Europe to receive an inspiring regiment of both private instruction and master classes during the period with Mr. Kubalek and other esteemed colleagues. Based on the accomplishments of the first year's program, the organizers have also extended the 2004 program to two weeks (July 7 - 21, 2004). More information regarding this can be found at http://www.kubalekpianocourses.com
Pianist Antonin Kubalek’s artistic victory from his Rudolfinum recital at the 2002 International Prague Spring Festival set a benchmark acclaim both critically and popularly. The Czech magazine Hudebni Rozhledy (Musical Observer) said of his performance that "with attentive listening, one comes to realize that he possesses a consistently refined touch, so that any polyphonic writing sounds wonderfully vivid." That same year, Antonin was the recipient of the 2002 UNESCO award for his life-long commitment to the promotion and performance of Czech repertoire internationally and contribution to the definition of musical beauty.
